Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor

Northstar Behavioral Health is a team of chemical dependency professionals that specialize in medication-assisted treatment through an inpatient, residential, multi-faceted programming structure at our St. Paul location for those battling opioid addition. Our integrated team of chemical dependency professionals work with residents individually and in group settings. We are looking for individuals that possess the ability to counsel residents and help them to become mentally sound, emotionally balanced, socially adjusted, physically well and spiritually alive.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the LADC Position
Responsible to ensure and/or deliver and properly document the provision of treatment services including: the initial service plan (which addresses the resident’s immediate health, safety, and preliminary service needs), comprehensive assessment within three days of service initiation using ASAM criteria, individual treatment plan, progress notes entered weekly on all residents and reference the individual treatment plan, summary at termination of services within five days of residents termination, and the maintenance of resident records in accordance with Minnesota Rule 9530.
In this role, the LADC would be leading individual and group counseling, and this role would also have access to growth opportunities mentioned in the company description above.
Other responsibilities include
Maintain resident records in accordance with Northstar policy requirements.
Other duties as assigned by LADC Supervisor
Complete continuing education courses in current treatment concepts and methods as required by the State of Minnesota to maintain Alcohol and Drug Counselor license.
Attend in-house training and all Northstar staff meetings.
Counselor will share the responsibility of conducting groups which includes sharing group hours with other LADC and leading group for 15 hours a week.
Each counselor has a caseload of up to 8 residents when facility is at full capacity, counselor will conduct a minimum of 1 hour individual sessions per week with each resident.
All Northstar Behavioral Health staff are required to complete medication administration training in case of the event they need to pass medications.
Each counselor will complete intakes for residents that will be on their caseload.
LADC may also be required to transport residents to appointments when needed.
LADC will have weekly check in with Treatment Director with all updated resident documentation.
LADC will maintain weekly contact with referents and fax weekly progress notes for each resident.
Minimum Qualifications Required
Must be licensed by the State of Minnesota as a Licensed Alcohol Drug Counselor
Must have two years of freedom from chemical use problems
Must pass a State of Minnesota Background Check
Must possess a current Minnesota Driver’s License with acceptable driving record
Must have 1 or more years providing chemical dependency counseling (supervised internship applies)
CPR Certification or attain within 30 days
Ability to use Microsoft office programs and other computer skills
